Songs like Beaten Into Submission and Nothing Left To Pray For are two shining examples of this lyrical approach. Purification Through Violence manages a balance of lyrics around occultism and splatter/gore, but takes the same approach Exhumed did and moulded the gore lyrics into more politically charged contexts as opposed to fixations on killing women and general splattter you'd find in other death metal bands. ![]() ![]() Since the release of the "Bathe in Entrails" demo in 1993, DF have been an absolute bulldozer in their career as a band, and this brings me to the review of the 1996 sophomore release, "Purification Through Violence".ĭying Fetus have always been proud of their "name vs concepts" thing, having an edgy name while their concepts revolve around topics such as warfare, political turmoil, violence and other grittier topics that you could find in death metal at that time. Dying Fetus have been an overwhelming presence within the death metal community, staking their claim in 1991 and engineering a brutal 32 year old killing spree with their unique mix of brutal death metal, grindcore, technical death metal and beatdown hardcore.
